A closer look at Student-Centered Coaching

Student-Centered Coaching is grounded in the simple but powerful premise: school-based coaching can be designed to directly impact student learning. When the focus is shifted from ‘fixing’ teachers to collaborating with them in designing instruction that targets student achievement, coaching becomes both more respectful and more results-based.

We are contacted by districts who want to get more out of their coaching program. Many have teams of coaches but no model to speak of. Others feel like they aren’t going deep enough in their implementation of coaching. We often hear that Student-Centered Coaching ‘just makes sense’ because it is outcomes-based.
