John P. Allegrante, PhD, LHD (Hon.) (2011-2017)*

John Allegrante is the senior Professor of Health Education in Health and Behavior Studies at Teachers College and Adjunct Professor of Sociomedical Sciences at the Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University. Dr. Allegrante’s research has focused on behavioral self-management and health outcomes in chronic disease, threats to child and adolescent health, and health promotion workforce development. He has published extensively in health education, clinical epidemiology, and health services research. Dr. Allegrante is a Past President and Distinguished Fellow of the Society for Public Health Education and an elected Fellow of the Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research and Society of Behavioral Medicine. He represents the United States as a globally elected member of the Executive Board of the International Union for Health Promotion and Education.
